Ne Obliviscaris | Equus
Music Video
We were honored to collaborate with Australian progressive metal band Ne Obliviscaris on their music video for the song "Equus". The brief was to create a conceptual video that would capture the intensity and emotion of the music, while also paying tribute to the victims of the devastating Black Saturday fires that ravaged Victoria in 2009.
Our team worked closely with the band to develop a concept that would bring the song's themes of tragedy, loss, and resilience to life. The result was a massive 12:32 minute production that pushed the boundaries of music video storytelling. We opted for a dark and moody aesthetic, using a combination interpretive dance, special effects, dramatic lighting, and intense camera work to create a sense of urgency and desperation.
The video follows a narrative that is both personal and abstract, weaving together imagery of destruction, chaos, and rebirth. We used a range of visual effects and cinematographic techniques to create a surreal and haunting atmosphere, drawing the viewer into the world of the song. From the opening shots of a burning landscape to the final bleak moments, every frame was carefully crafted to convey the emotional intensity of the music.
The final video is a testament to the power of music to evoke emotion and inspire reflection. Ne Obliviscaris' "Equus" is a masterpiece of progressive metal, and we are proud to have played a part in bringing their vision to life. Our team worked tirelessly to ensure that every aspect of the video met the band's high standards, with the final result winning “Music Video of the Year” in 2022 - ProgSpace Awards.
